JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
Luis: Nope. I waas only able to use the phone once
every 72 hours
Kelly: in my cell, yes
Krissie: No
JM: What types of charges applied for calling people?
Luis: Oh man I think it was something like two
dollars and cahnge per minute collect of course.
Kelly: they were regular collect charges
JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
Luis: no but I did have to make a collect call and
from what I understood the money that was
generated from the calls went to the jail.
Kelly: no
JM: Did the jail screen your calls?
Luis: Im sure they did.
Kelly: probably

Someone pls. explain this 'enter your debit card number for inmate to receive minutes' deal to me. I am very suspicious anything to do with Oklahoma County Jail, as they are quite sheisty. My nephew is there and I want to talk to him, but unsure about th is?

when an inmate calls you collect does it charge you on your house phone if it dont ask you for your credit card number?

the inmates get 1 minute for free. The inmate can call landlines collect, and it charges the landline owner. It will be added to the monthly bill, or if the inmate called your cell phone, you can select to add minutes using your credit or debit card to the inmates "account". Its called Telmate.

can parents send phone cards, or do you have to purchase them there? also, how soon after my son gets there can he call me. Thank you

you can call up to the jail and ask them to set up a calling card for an inmate and but the only way you can do it without going up there is having a credit card

calling in to visit is very inconvient for the family member. why not go back to the old county way to visit.

why in the heck are the phones always busy or they are always booked for visitation. how do you get visitation when this is going on. are there not more people answering phones for visitation or just one operator. they need to fix this problem!!!! everyone has a right to visit.

ok so my question is if they have money on there books can they make phone calls? and not collect calls?

The phones are set up in pods and mounted on the walls and that only outgoing collect calls can be made .. all prisoners are locked down until allowed day room time, that may or may not occur in any specific day, phones are not located in the prisoner's individual cells.

they are in 2 baker and they can make calls that aint collect if they draw down and buy a phone card
